NSU Falls in Series Opener to Eagles

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Sunshine State Conference series opener between the Nova Southeastern Sharks and Embry-Riddle Eagles was a pitchers' dual on Friday night at the NSU Baseball Complex. The Sharks fell 4-3 to the Eagles, giving up the go-ahead run in the top of the ninth inning.

How it Happened
  • Both the Sharks and Eagles were held off the scoreboard for the first two innings, but Embry-Riddle plated the first two runs of the game in the top of the third inning. 
  • NSU trailed 2-0, before Kristian Noriega hit his first home run of the season in the bottom of the third, putting the score at 2-1. 
  • The score remained 2-1 until the top of the sixth inning, when Embry-Riddle scored their third run of the contest on a wild pitch.
  • Justin Wach's team-leading sixth home run of the season tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom half of the sixth. 
  • The Eagles scored the game-winning run in the top of the ninth, as the Sharks dropped the Sunshine State Conference series opening game 4-3.
