FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- The #10 Nova Southeastern Sharks grinded out a 1-0 victory on Sunday afternoon, as they defeated the Montevallo Falcons to advance to the NCAA South Region Championship.
Sofia Suarez's late goal proved to be the difference maker and propelled the Sharks to the next round.

- Both teams came out aggressive, and the Falcons' initial formation applied pressure in the Sharks' defensive zone. NSU responded by attacking the pressure and controlling the time of possession.
- NSU generated multiple chances and registered multiple shots in the game's opening minutes. The Sharks registered 11 first half shots to the Falcons' six, but neither team was able to score through one half of play.
- Late in the second half, Lova Korpas sent a Shark corner kick into the box, and Sofia Suarez scored on a brilliant header at the 72:02 mark to send the Shark faithful into a frenzy. The Sharks continued attacking and controlling the time of possession, and they closed out the 1-0 win.
With the win, the second-seeded Sharks advance to the NCAA South Region Championship for a rematch with fourth-seeded Florida Tech, who defeated the top-seed West Florida Argonauts. This will be the third time these teams have met this season, as the Sharks defeated the Panthers 6-5 in penalty kicks to win the SSC Championship.
