Russo's walk-off grand slam lifts #22 Sharks to thrilling SSC victory over Eckerd

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - In what was an SSC classic, the #22 ranked Nova Southeastern Softball team secured tonight's SSC victory in extra innings over Eckerd thanks to a walk-off grand slam by Gianna Russo. Gracelyn Wallace led the Sharks in the pitching circle, throwing a season-high 12 strikeouts.

How it Happened

BOT 1st - The Sharks scored two early runs off an error-filled inning by the Tritons.

TOP 2nd - Eckerd answered with a solo home run to left field.

BOT 3rd - RBIs from Tori Copeland and Lauren Margolis tacked on two more runs for NSU, bringing their lead to 4-1.

TOP 5th - Sneaky base running helped the Tritons put their second run on the board after stealing for home.

TOP 7th - In a last-ditch effort to comeback, Eckerd scored two late runs, tying the game at four apiece. 

BOT 11th - With the bases loaded, Gianna Russo stepped up to the plate and hit a walk-off grand slam, securing the Sharks 8-4 thrilling victory in their SSC home opener against Eckerd.
