MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Sunshine State Conference announced its weekly awards for the week of March 17 - March 23. Two Nova Southeastern student-athletes were recognized for their performances, as
Lua Pousa Dacasa (Women's Golf) and
Bruno Marques (Men's Golf) were all honored.
Pousa Dacasa won the Barry Invitational at Pembroke Lakes Golf and Racquet Club in Pembroke Pines, Florida. The Panamanian native was crowned champion after outscoring 54 golfers with a 54-hole score of 7-over, 223 following rounds of 76-76-71. The sophomore's final round, 71, was the only under-par round of the tournament. Pousa Dacasa tallied four birdies, an eagle, and 38 pars to win the tournament by two strokes. With the play of Pousa Dacasa, the Sharks claimed the team title over a field of 10 teams, including six SSC squads.
Marques finished tied for sixth at the Bobcat Invitational at Cuscowilla On Lake Oconee in Eatonton, Georgia. The Spaniard outscored 12 of Clippd's Top-50 players with an even par, 210 following rounds of 74-66-70. With the play of Marques, Nova Southeastern finished sixth of 15 teams.
