Nova Southeastern ranks sixth in Learfield Directors' Cup Winter Update

NSU Athletics ranks sixth among 300 DII institutions

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The final Learfield Directors' Cup winter standings for NCAA Division II and III and the NAIA were announced on Thursday afternoon. Nova Southeastern University ranks sixth among 300 NCAA Division II institutions, first in the Sunshine State Conference, accumulating 444.0 points through the 2024-25 winter championship season.

The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.

Nova Southeastern earned 324 points during the winter championship season, as the Sharks won the NCAA Division II national championships in both women's swimming and men's basketball, with each championship being worth 100 points. NSU Women's Swimming, led by Head Coach Ben Hewitt, won the program's third consecutive NCAA Division II title in March, while the Sharks combined for three individual NCAA national titles and 16 student-athletes were named CSCAA All-Americans. Hewitt was named the Sunshine State Conference and CSCAA Coach of the Year, while Kristina Orban earned SSC Freshman of the Year recognition.

Under the direction of Head Coach Jim Crutchfield, the NSU Men's Basketball team won the program's second NCAA Division II title in the last three seasons. NSU finished the season with a 36-1 record, tying the most wins in a single season in program history. The Sharks set the NCAA Division II record for consecutive home-court victories (84). Crutchfield was recognized as the Sunshine State Conference, NABC South District and NABC National Coach of the Year. MJ Iraldi set the single season scoring record at Nova Southeastern (873) and was named the Player of the Year by the Sunshine State Conference, D2 CCA (South Region & National), and NABC (National).

NSU women's basketball (64 points) and NSU men's swimming (60) combined for 124 points for Nova Southeastern. Sharks women's basketball advanced to the NCAA South Region tournament championship game for the second consecutive year, while the men's swimming team placed 15th at the NCAA championship meet.

The final standings for the 2024-25 Learfield Directors' Cup will be announced in June. To stay up-to-date on Sharks Athletics, be sure to follow on Instagram and X at NSUSharks.
