Sharks fall in slugfest against Valdosta State

VALDOSTA, GA. - In a high scoring contest that featured a combined 28 runs and 36 hits, the Nova Southeastern Sharks Baseball team was defeated 18-10 by the Valdosta State Blazers at Billy Grant Field on Wednesday afternoon.

How it Happened
  • NSU got the scoring started early, as Boris Pena came through with an RBI single and gave the Sharks a 1-0 lead. 
  • Zeth Rodriguez hit a solo home run in the top of the second inning, extending the NSU advantage to 2-0 over the Blazer.
  • Later in the frame, Jack Cue hit a two-run home run, pushing the Sharks' lead to 4-0.
  • Valdosta State tied the game with a four-run bottom of the third inning. 
  •  Rodriguez came through with an RBI double, driving in Roylan Quevedo, and reclaiming the lead for NSU at 5-4 in the top of the fifth inning.
  • Matthew Corpas brought in Rodriguez and Pena with a two-run single, extending the lead to 7-4.
  • The Blazers responded with five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning, taking a 9-7 lead.
  • Gabriel Esquivel sparked a three-run top of the sixth inning for Nova Southeastern with a solo home run. 
  • Rodriguez tallied his third run batted in of the contest with a sacrifice fly, tying the game at 9-9.
  • NSU once again took the lead courtesy of an RBI single by Medina.
  • VSU totaled nine runs across the sixth, seventh and eighth innings, as the Blazers defeated the Sharks 18-10. 
What's Next
