MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern University Sharks Volleyball team began Sunshine State Conference play with a 3-0 defeat against the Barry University Buccaneers on Friday evening.

- The Sharks fell behind early, trailing 5-1 at the beginning of the first set.

Caiden Largent recorded a pair of points on kills, with points also coming from
Erika Spankus,
Olivia Aniol, and
Abbie Roth brought the score to 7-5.

Erika Spankus and
Taylor Stockman each tallied points to bring the score to 11-8.
- The Sharks capitalized on a Buccaneers error and added a service ace from
Olivia Aniol, cutting the Buccaneers lead to 17-14.

Olivia Aniol recorded a kill late in the set to bring the Sharks back within a point at 21-20.
- The first set concluded with a 25-21 score in favor of the Buccaneers.
- The second set began with a quick rally by the Sharks, taking a 4-2 lead with kills coming from
Brantley Chipley,
Erika Spankus, and
Abbie Roth.

Caiden Largent recorded a kill to even the score at 5-5.

Brantley Chipley put a pair of points on the board with a kill and a block assisted by
Taylor Stockman to make the score 12-10 with the Sharks trailing.

Olivia Aniol teamed up with
Taylor Stockman and
Abbie Roth for a pair of blocks to bring the score to 18-14.
- The Buccaneers controlled the remainder of the set, finishing the second set with a 25-15 score.
- At the beginning of the third set the Sharks took a 2-0 lead from a pair of
Caiden Largent kills.

Mackenzie Pryor put the Sharks back ahead 4-3.
- The Sharks regained the lead at 8-7, from a pair of errors by the Buccaneers and a kill by
Brantley Chipley.
- The Buccaneers held the lead for the remainder of the contest, concluding the match with a 25-15 score in the final set.

The Sharks will head to West Palm Beach to take on the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish in Sunshine State Conference play on Saturday, September 27th.
