How it Happened

The Sharks put the pressure on the Tars early, as they raced out to a 15-3 lead. That initial scoring run was capped by back-to-back threes from Bridie McCann and Kaliyah Morales, forcing a Rollins timeout. The Tars struggled against the full court pressure and scored just seven points during the quarter, all of which came off of free throws. NSU led 21-7 at the end of the period.

The Tars scored their first field goal on a jumper from McKenna Murphy at the 7:58 mark of the second quarter, but still trailed 28-11. The Sharks went up by 20, 33-13, on a three-pointer from Taydra Simpson, and Chynna Mattair drew a charge just before the under-5 media timeout. Katelynn Hagy drilled a three-pointer from the wing to go up 40-14, and Simpson hit her third three-pointer of the half to give NSU a 45-19 lead at the break. Offensive rebounding was the key during the first half, as 21 of the Sharks' 34 total rebounds were offensive.

The Sharks went up by 30, 51-21, on two free throws from Morales early in the third quarter. Hagy knocked down another three-pointer at the 4:05 mark, as the Sharks maintained that 30-point lead, 63-23, and they led 75-27 at the end of the third. Mattair banked in a three from the top of the key to go up by 40, and the Sharks' lead ballooned to 58 points in the fourth. Bree Williams' layup provided the final basket for the Sharks, as they won 89-33.
