First Set (25-19, PBA) – PBA hit .371 as a team in the opening set but the Sharks managed to hang with the 'Fish up until the score was deadlocked at 19-all. PBA scored the next six points, unanswered, to claim the opening frame and take a 1-0 lead.
Second Set (25-15, PBA) – After falling in straight sets to the Sharks on the same court back in August, the Sailfish wanted to make a statement and turned the set one momentum into pure dominance in set two. PBA went on three seperate runs of four points or more to pull away from the Sharks, including a 5-0 run where the 'Fish exclusively scored on NSU attacking or service errors.
Third Set (25-21, NSU) – The Sharks, desperate to defend their home court, took the third set behind inspired attacking from freshman
Langdon Blackstock and veteran
Caiden Largent. After PBA went ahead 21-18, just four points away from match point, NSU rallied and scored the next seven to take the set out from underneath the Sailfish. Kills from
Macy Lentz,
Brooke Spurgeon,
Caiden Largent and a block from
Mia Mccurley and
Macy Lentz helped the Sharks score those seven unanswered to draw the match back within a set.
Fourth Set (25-20, PBA) – Palm Beach Atlantic came into Rick Case Arena having been a victim of a reverse sweep in its last match against Lynn, understood the assignment and despite the Sharks holding an early lead in the set, by as many as four points, the 'Fish stormed back with an 8-2 run to take a 20-16 lead. PBA scored five of the next eight points including a block from Kaelynn Sims and Leah Burlison on match point to win the match.
Langdon Blackstock set a career-high 11 kills to lead the Sharks in scoring.
Macy Lentz and
Abbie Roth both had 18 assists.
Taylor Teaman added 21 digs to lead the Sharks as the libero.
