How it Happened

Nova Southeastern rattled off an 11-2 run to start the game, capped by a layup from Ross Reeves, which forced a Barry timeout five minutes into the contest. The Bucs responded with a run of their own, cutting the deficit to 16-13 on a three-pointer just before the under-12 media timeout, and later cut it to 19-17. However, that was at close as the Bucs would get the remainder of the game, as the Sharks went on a 10-0 run to extend the lead to 29-17 with 7:46 remaining in the first half. The run featured two free throws from Reeves, then layups from Dallas Graziani, Reeves, Jaxon Nap and Reeves again.

The Bucs finally stopped the bleeding with a bucket at the 7:22 mark, but the Sharks pushed the lead to 15, and later led 48-27 on two free throws from Nap with just over two minutes remaining. Eli Allen scored an acrobatic putback layup just before the buzzer to give NSU a commanding 54-32 halftime advantage.

The Bucs briefly cut the deficit to 19 points in the second half, but the Shark defense continued to keep the Bucs at bay. NSU pushed the lead past 30 points, 79-48, on another layup from Allen at the 11:46 mark, and later crossed the 100-point threshold on a putback from Michael Santicola. NSU took a 108-70 lead, its largest of the game, on a dunk from Jamie Qualley with 2:13 remaining. Qualley also provided the final basket for NSU as they finished off the 110-74 victory. For the game, the Sharks scored 32 points off 21 Barry turnovers, while only committing six turnovers themselves. They also scored 29 fastbreak points to Barry's six, and it was the fifth straight game the Sharks scored more than 100 points.
