FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Nova Southeastern battled through a successful weekend, as they returned home and went 3-1 in more non-conference action after last week's wins at Flagler College. The Sharks swept Central Missouri 2-0 in their double-header on Saturday before splitting Sunday's double-header against Kutztown.
Gracelyn Wallace and
Avery Desner both earned wins, while
Christina D'Agostino,
Destiny Lewis and
Brianna Matthews all had big days at the plate.

(GAME 1)
- The Sharks got on the board first, as Brianna Matthews scored on Ana Richiez's sacrificial fly at the bottom of the first inning.
- Matthews later batted in two runs with her single in the second inning, as Savanna Isaacson and Taylor Rogers both scored, giving NSU a 3-0 lead.
- Later in the second, the Sharks tacked on two more runs, thanks to a throwing error, and the lead ballooned to 5-0.
- The Mules, however, responded with a three-run homer that sliced the deficit to 5-3 in the third inning.
- The Mules scored again and drew within 5-4 on Kysten Moran's RBI triple in the fourth inning.
- The Sharks countered with two more runs in the fourth, as Matthews scored after a wild pitch, and Richiez scored on Lewis' sacrificial fly to give NSU a 7-4 lead.
- UCM's Emma McCall recorded an RBI single at the top of the fifth to draw them within 7-5, but they were unable to tie the score, and NSU's 7-5 lead held for the rest of the game.

(GAME 2)
- Christina D'Agostino's RBI double brought Brianna Matthews home in the first inning. Later in the inning, D'Agostino scored herself, bringing NSU's lead to 2-0.
- The Mules scored at the top of the second and later tacked on two more runs in the third. Madelyn Ducheneaux batted in two runs to give UCM a 3-2 lead.
- The Sharks completely took over in the fifth inning, as Abbey Moore's RBI double brought Mia Schwaner home. Moore later scored when D'Agostino was walked with the bases loaded, snatching the 4-3 lead back for NSU.
- After another error, Savanna Isaacson scored again, and Destiny Lewis recorded an RBI double to push NSU's lead to 7-3.
- UCM finally responded with a home run at the top of the sixth, but Brianna Matthews hit a ground-rule double for good measure, scoring the final run and giving NSU the 8-4 victory.

(GAME 3)
- Samantha Paetow got the Bears on the board first, as her RBI single gave them an early 1-0 lead in the first inning.
- The Sharks, however, responded with a homer, as Destiny Lewis smashed a solo shot to left center to tie the score 1-1 in the second.
- In the third, Christina D'Agostino and Gianna Russo both recorded RBI singles, giving the Sharks a 3-1 advantage.
- Neither team could score through the fourth inning, but the Bears got another RBI single in the fifth that cut the deficit to 3-2. Kutztown was unable to muster another score, and the Shark defense held to close out the 3-2 win in the low scoring affair.

(GAME 4)
- The Bears, looking to avenge their loss from the first game, took an early 3-0 lead when Caitlin Ashley smashed a three-run shot to center field in the first inning.
- That home run held, as neither team could score through the middle innings.
- Destiny Lewis countered with a solo shot for the Sharks in the fourth, and her home run cut the deficit to 3-1.
- The Bears scored another run for good measure on Paetow's sacrifice fly, and their defense held to get the 4-1 win and secure the split.
The Sharks move to 14-12 after this weekend's non-conference action. They will face off against Westchester University of Pennsylvania and Winona State at the Space Coast Games today at 12:30 PM and 2:30 PM, respectively.
