How it Happened

  • In a back-and-forth extra-inning battle, the Nova Southeastern Sharks showed resilience at the plate but ultimately walked off Palm Beach Atlantic with a dramatic 13-12 victory in 11 innings.
  • The game started quietly, as both teams were held scoreless through the first two innings. Nova Southeastern threatened early in the first, loading the bases with three walks, but Palm Beach Atlantic escaped the jam to keep it 0-0.
  • The Sharks broke through in the bottom of the third inning. After back-to-back singles from Jorge DeGoti and Emilio Gonzalez, Michael Arnold executed a sacrifice bunt that brought DeGoti home, giving Nova Southeastern a 1-0 lead.
  • Palm Beach Atlantic responded in a big way in the fourth inning, erupting for five runs. Capitalizing on walks, a hit-by-pitch, and timely hitting, including a two-RBI double from Carter Parent, the Sailfish took a commanding 5-1 lead.
  • Nova Southeastern answered in the bottom half of the inning when Yhirian Marrero launched a two-run home run to left field, cutting the deficit to 5-3. However, Palm Beach Atlantic added another run in the fifth to extend the lead to 6-3.
  • The Sharks began their comeback in the sixth inning. Anthony Stinson delivered a clutch two-RBI double down the right field line, and later stole home in a heads-up play to tie the game at 6-6.
  • After a scoreless seventh inning for Palm Beach Atlantic, Nova Southeastern took its first lead since the third inning in the bottom half. Defensive miscues by the Sailfish proved costly, as two errors allowed Dakota Jones and Yhirian Marrero to score, giving the Sharks an 8-6 advantage.
  • The momentum shifted again in the eighth inning. Palm Beach Atlantic plated four runs on four hits, highlighted by a two-RBI double from Finley Holmes, reclaiming a 10-8 lead.
  • Once again, the Sharks responded. In the bottom of the eighth, a wild pitch and a sacrifice fly from Sebastian Garavito tied the game at 10-10, sending the contest into the late innings.
  • Both teams had chances in the ninth but failed to capitalize, forcing extra innings.
  • In the 10th, Palm Beach Atlantic struck first with a two-run rally, but Nova Southeastern matched it in the bottom half with RBI contributions from JC Hernandez and a sacrifice fly by Manny Ramirez Jr. to even the score at 12-12.
  • Palm Beach Atlantic threatened in the 11th, loading the bases, but the Sharks pitching staff held firm to keep the game tied.
  • In the bottom of the 11th, Nova Southeastern completed the comeback. After Emilio Gonzalez singled and Michael Arnold walked, Sebastian Garavito was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Dakota Jones then delivered the game-winning hit, driving in Gonzalez and sealing a 13-12 walk-off victory.

How it Happened

  • In a tightly contested matchup, the Nova Southeastern Sharks rallied from an early deficit to secure a 5-4 victory over Embry-Riddle, fueled by timely hitting and clutch pitching down the stretch.
  • The game opened as a pitchers' duel, with both teams held scoreless through the first three innings. Nova Southeastern threatened in the first and third innings, collecting multiple hits, but couldn't capitalize, leaving runners stranded in scoring position.
  • Embry-Riddle broke through in the top of the fourth inning. After a leadoff double and a walk set the table, the Eagles executed small ball and followed with a two-RBI single from Derek Lopez, taking a 3-0 lead.
  • The Eagles added another run in the fifth inning, capitalizing on a Nova Southeastern error to extend their lead to 4-0.
  • The Sharks began to chip away in the bottom of the fifth. After Michael Arnold reached on an error and advanced into scoring position, Sebastian Garavito drove in a run on a fielder's choice to make it 4-1.
  • Nova Southeastern delivered the biggest swing of the game in the sixth inning. With two runners on, Emilio Gonzalez crushed a three-run home run to center field, tying the game at 4-4 and completely shifting the momentum.
  • From there, the Sharks pitching staff locked in. After allowing traffic earlier in the game, Nova Southeastern held Embry-Riddle scoreless over the final four innings, highlighted by a dominant eighth inning in which the side was retired in order via three strikeouts.
  • The Sharks took their first lead of the game in the bottom of the seventh inning. Roylan Quevedo led off with a double and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt. Moments later, a balk by the Embry-Riddle pitcher allowed Quevedo to score, giving Nova Southeastern a 5-4 advantage.
  • Nova Southeastern had chances to add insurance in the eighth but left the bases loaded, keeping it a one-run game heading into the ninth.
  • In the final frame, Embry-Riddle threatened by putting two runners on base, but the Sharks pitching staff held firm. A pair of strikeouts and a game-ending punchout sealed the 5-4 victory.

  • Embry-Riddle struck first in the top of the opening inning, as Cole Bullen launched a solo home run to left-center to give the Eagles a quick 1-0 lead. However, the advantage was short-lived.
  • The Sharks answered immediately in the bottom of the first. After consecutive singles from Emilio Gonzalez and Roylan Quevedo, Sebastian Garavito drove in the tying run. Moments later, Dakota Jones delivered the big swing of the inning, ripping a two-RBI triple to right-center to put Nova Southeastern ahead 3-1.
  • Nova Southeastern continued to build momentum in the second inning. RBI hits from Jorge DeGoti and Roylan Quevedo, along with a sacrifice fly from Emilio Gonzalez, extended the lead to 6-1.
  • The offense stayed hot in the third, as Ty Torti crushed a two-run home run to right-center, pushing the Sharks' lead to 8-1.
  • While the pitching staff settled in, holding Embry-Riddle scoreless from the second through the fifth innings, the Sharks' lineup delivered the knockout blow in the fifth. • Nova Southeastern put the game completely out of reach in the sixth inning with another offensive explosion. Anthony Stinson's two-run double sparked a six-run inning, followed by a sacrifice fly from JC Hernandez and an RBI single from Emilio Gonzalez. Aggressive baserunning and an Embry-Riddle error added to the damage, extending the lead to 19-1.
  • Embry-Riddle managed to plate one run in the seventh, but it was far from enough to mount a comeback.
  • From there, the Sharks' bullpen closed the door, with the defense turning a game-ending double play in the ninth to seal the 19-2 win.

  • Embry-Riddle added to its lead in the third inning, using a mix of timely hitting and a defensive miscue to plate two more runs and extend the advantage to 3-0.
  • The Eagles continued to apply pressure in the fourth, stringing together three hits, including an RBI single from Aidan Corn, to push the lead to 4-0.
  • The Sharks finally broke through in the bottom of the fourth. Emilio Gonzalez sparked the inning with a triple to center field, and Sebastian Garavito followed with an RBI single to get Nova Southeastern on the board and cut the deficit to 4-1.

  • Embry-Riddle tacked on another run in the seventh, taking advantage of defensive miscues and a wild pitch to make it 8-1.
  • Nova Southeastern had opportunities throughout the middle innings, including loading the bases in the sixth, but failed to capitalize, leaving multiple runners stranded.
  • The Sharks added a late run in the ninth when Dakota Jones launched a solo home run, but it wasn't enough to overcome the early deficit.
