  • After Lynn responded with a solo home run in the second, the Sharks quickly regained control. Nova Southeastern added runs in the second and third innings, including a solo home run from Dakota Jones and an RBI single from Sebastian Garavito, while continuing to pressure the Fighting Knights with disciplined at-bats and aggressive baserunning.

How it Happened

  • In the second game of the series against the Lynn University Fighting Knights, the Sharks delivered a dominant all-around performance, securing a 9-2 victory behind early offense and steady pitching.
  • The Sharks wasted no time setting the tone in the bottom of the first inning. After Anthony Stinson reached base, Roylan Quevedo and Emilio Gonzalez delivered key RBI hits, and a Lynn defensive error extended the rally. Michael Arnold capped the inning with a sacrifice RBI as Nova Southeastern jumped out to a 4-1 lead after the opening frame.
  • Lynn briefly responded in the second inning with a solo home run, but the Sharks quickly regained control. Nova Southeastern added runs in the second and third innings, including an RBI groundout from Quevedo and a sacrifice fly from Yhirian Marrero, steadily building separation.
  • The breakthrough moment came in the fourth and fifth innings. Emilio Gonzalez crushed a solo home run to center in the fourth, and Yhirian Marrero followed in the fifth with a two-run blast, extending the lead to 9-2 and effectively putting the game out of reach.
  • From there, Nova Southeastern's pitching staff took over, shutting down Lynn's offense and limiting them to just one hit over the final four innings. The Sharks controlled the tempo on both sides of the ball, closing out a convincing series win.

How it Happened

  • In the series finale against Lynn, the Sharks found themselves in an early deficit before mounting a resilient offensive comeback to secure a hard-fought series sweep.
  • Nova Southeastern struggled out of the gate as Lynn exploded for four runs in the first inning and added another in the second to take an early 5-0 lead. The Sharks responded in the bottom of the second when Sebastian Garavito doubled and came around to score alongside Dakota Jones on a Lynn error, cutting the deficit to 5-2. Both teams went quiet through the third and fourth innings as pitching settled in.
  • The Sharks began chipping away in the fifth inning. Joel Cabrera sparked the rally with a walk, and after advancing on a sacrifice bunt and passed ball, Roylan Quevedo delivered an RBI double. Emilio Gonzalez then delivered the big swing of the inning, launching a two-run home run to right center to tie the game at 5-5.
  • Nova Southeastern carried that momentum into the sixth inning, where they pushed across two more runs to take their first lead of the game. Cabrera again worked his way into scoring position, Anthony Stinson was hit by a pitch to bring in a run, and Quevedo followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 7-5.
  • Lynn responded in the seventh, capitalizing on a walk, error, and timely hitting to plate two runs and even the score at 7-7. The tie was short-lived, however, the Sharks answered immediately in the bottom half. Ty Torti came through with a clutch two-RBI double, and Nick Rodriguez added an RBI single as Nova Southeastern surged ahead 10-7.
  • The Sharks added insurance in the eighth inning when Jorge DeGoti drove in a run on a sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 11-7. Lynn managed a solo home run in the ninth, but it was not enough as Nova Southeastern closed out an 11-8 victory.
  • Emilio Gonzalez and Ty Torti led the offensive effort, combining for key extra-base hits in pivotal moments, while the Sharks lineup showcased resilience and timely hitting to overcome an early five-run deficit and secure the win.
