Krohnstad, Rokseth Score in 3-2 Loss to Fighting Knights

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern Men's Soccer team battled until the final whistle but came up just short in a 3-2 loss to Lynn University in Sunshine State Conference action on Tuesday night at Bobby Campbell Stadium. Erik Krohnstad opened the scoring for the Sharks, while Markus Rokseth netted a late goal in the closing seconds, but Lynn held on for the conference victory.

How it Happened
• Nova Southeastern struck first in the 37th minute when Erik Krohnstad found the back of the net, giving the Sharks a 1-0 advantage.
• Lynn responded quickly before halftime, as Joao Silva scored in the 39th minute off an assist from Luan Barroso Rennstich to even the match at 1-1 heading into the break.
• The Fighting Knights grabbed the lead just three minutes into the second half when Silva scored his second goal of the evening in the 49th minute, finishing a setup from Fabian Vyhnalek to make it 2-1.
• Lynn added an insurance goal in the 75th minute as Barroso Rennstich converted a scoring chance off an assist from Silva, extending the lead to 3-1.
• Goalkeeper Santino Scerbo kept the Sharks within striking distance throughout the match, recording several key saves, including stops on Lynn opportunities in both halves.
• Nova Southeastern continued to press late and cut the deficit in the final minute of regulation. Markus Rokseth scored in the 90th minute off an assist from Krohnstad, bringing the Sharks within one at 3-2.


What's Next
The Sharks will return to action on Sept. 23 when they continue Sunshine State Conference play against the Barry Buccaneers at Amerant Bank Field at NSU Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
