DII Tryout Rules and Regulation for Prospective Student-Athletes
An institution may conduct a tryout for a prospective student-athlete only on campus or at a regular practice/competition site beginning June 15 before the PSA’s junior year of high school.
Generally, only one tryout per institution per sport is permitted during high school and one after high school, although an additional tryout is allowed if there is a new head coach.
Tryouts for high school, prep school, or two-year college PSAs may occur at any time, while four-year college students may participate only after their season ends and after transfer authorization is obtained.
Prior to participation, the PSA must complete a medical examination within the previous year, including a sickle cell solubility test unless prior results are provided. Tryout activities are limited to two hours, except golf, which allows up to five hours. Institutions may provide equipment and clothing on a temporary issuance-and-retrieval basis during the tryout.
Approval for all tryouts must be obtained from the NSU Sharks Compliance Office following the completion and submission of the appropriate documentation.
