Three Goals From David Wahlberg Leads NSU Men's Soccer To 5-0 Victory Over Georgia Southwestern

Chris Pruitt and Juan Gonzalez also score for the Sharks

AMERICUS, Ga. (August 30, 2008) - The Nova Southeastern University men's soccer team defeated Georgia Southwestern 5-0 behind three goals and an assist from newcomer David Wahlberg (Jr., Skanor, Sweden) in play on Saturday afternoon. The victory moves the Sharks to 2-0 on the season while Georgia Southwestern falls to 0-2.

Chris Pruitt (So., Canton, Mich.) scored the first goal of the match for the Sharks nine minutes into play. Pruitt scored on a header from six yards out on they play, which was assisted by Craig Heenigan (So., Widnes, England) and Brian Cardozo (So., Davie, Fla.).

Niether team could get on the board for the remainder of the first half, so the Sharks headed into the locker room one goal up.

Juan Gonzalez (So., Oakland Park, Fla. put Nova Southeastern up 2-0 in the 47th minute, scoring on a feed from Wahlberg from the left corner and tucking the ball just inside the left post.

Wahlberg erased any thoughts of a Georgia Southwestern combeack in the 59th minute, scoring a goal from 12 yards out on a pass from Tim Taylor (So., Farmington Hills, Mich.) to give the Sharks a 3-0 lead.

Wahlberg would score twice more in the match, assisted by defending Sunshine State Conference player of the year Romain Onteniente (Jr., Nice, France) both times.

Travis Frazier (Fr., West End, N.C.) and Juan Vizcarrando (So., Weston, Fla.) combined on the shutout in goal for Nova Southeastern.

NSU returns home to host Warner Southern at the NSU soccer complex on Friday, September 5th at 7 pm.
