Nova Southeastern University Men's Soccer Defeated 4-1 By University of West Florida

David Wahlberg Scores Team Leading 6th Goal Of The Season

TAMPA, Fla. (Sept. 21, 2008) - The Nova Southeastern University men's soccer team was beaten 4-1 by the University of West Florida in action at Pepin-Rood Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The loss drops NSU to 5-2-1 on the season while West Florida improves to 6-1-1 on the year.

The West Florida Argonauts broke a scoreless match in the 33rd minute when Richard Dixon touched a ball from the six yard mark over Sharks goalkeeper Travis Frazier (Fr., West End, N.C.).

UWF out-shot NSU 7-3 in the first half, with each goalkeeper recording one save. The Sharks held a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks.

An unassisted goal from Matt Williams on a free kick gave the Argonauts a 2-0 edge just 45 second into the second half.

NSU forward David Wahlberg (Jr., Skanor, Sweden) put Nova Southeastern on the board shortly after, scoring on a shot through two defenders inside the box. The goal was Wahlbergs team leading sixth goal of the season.

Dixons second goal of the afternoon put West Florida up 3-1. He connected on a header off a corner kick from Williams that snuck just inside the right post.

Rafael Segal added an insurance goal for the Argonauts in the 61st minute to conclude the scoring.

West Florida out-shot NSU 18-10 for the match.

NSU forward Romain Onteniente (Jr., Nice, France) led the team with three shots. Frazier tallied four saves.

The Sharks will return to Tampa, Fla. on Wednesday, September 24th to play defending SSC Tournament Champion University of Tampa at 7 pm.
