FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Sept. 25, 2009) - A goal headed in by Nate Dunbar (Sr., Southbury, Conn.) in the 77th minute proved to be the difference as Nova Southeastern University's men's soccer team upset No. 25 West Florida 1-0 Friday night at the NSU Soccer Complex. With the win, NSU moves to 5-4-0 overall. West Florida falls to 4-3-1 on the season.

"It was a superb result against an excellent team," said head coach Giuseppe DePalo. "West Florida has been the benchmark team. To get that result says a lot. Once again, if you work hard and come together for 90 minutes, the results are possible."

It is the second time this season in which the Sharks have knocked off a nationally-ranked team. NSU posted a 1-0 win over then-No. 25 Florida Tech at the NSU Soccer Complex on Sept. 9.

Dunbar's goal came as Aly Hassan (Jr., Davie, Fla.) drew a foul against West Florida just outside the 18-yard box. On the restart, Tim Taylor (Jr., Farmington Hills, Mich.) fed the ball into the box, finding the head of Dunbar for the game-winner.

NSU held a 13-11 edge on shots and a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks. Lyle Howe (Fr., Coral Springs, Fla.) made two stops for the Sharks, including one in the 89th minute. Elliott Purdom had four saves for the Argonauts.

The Sharks return to the pitch on Wednesday when they host Florida Southern. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the NSU Soccer Complex.
