Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. (March, 22, 2010)- The Nova Southeastern University baseball team defeated Southern New Hampshire 5-4 for their sixth straight victory on Monday evening. The win improves the Sharks record to 15-14 on the season while the Penmen fall to 3-5.
Senior first baseman Rhys Roberts (Parkland, Fla.) led the Sharks offensive attack, going 3-4 with a run scored and two RBI. Second baseman Nikko Echevarria (So.,Abqaiq,Saudi Arabia), third baseman Eric McCans (Sr., Pembroke Pines, Fla.) and catcher Haven FitzSimmonds (Jr., Loxahatchee, Fla.) each had two hits.
Sophomore reliever Jovahny Castaneda (So., Hileah, Fla.) earned the win, pitching a scoreless seventh inning. Junior closer Sean Albury (Nassau, Bahamas) collected his sixth save by escaping a bases loaded ninth inning rally.
Junior Anthony Nalepa (Miami, Fla.) pitched four and two-thirds innings, allowing one run on three hits while striking out eight.
The Sharks travel to face Palm Beach Atlantic at 6 pm on Tuesday, March 23rd.
