Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. (Mar. 24, 2010) The Nova Southeastern University baseball team defeated Southern New Hampshire in a 13-8 slugfest in action at the NSU Baseball Complex on Wednesday evening. The win improves the Sharks to 16-15 on the season while the Penmen fall to 5-10 on the season.
Senior All-America right fielder Brayan Valencia (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) led the Sharks at the plate, going 4-4 with a home run, three runs scored and three runs batted in. Senior third baseman Rhys Roberts (Parkland, Fla.) had three hits, three runs scored and two RBI.
The Sharks struck for four runs in the third inning, five in the fifth, two in the sixth and two in the seventh inning.
Senior designated hitter Eric McCans (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) and junior first baseman Dusty Maggs (Satellite Beach, Fla.) had two hits apiece.
Junior reliever Isaac Hicks (Lighthouse Point, Fla.) earned the win in relief, pitching two innings and allowing two runs. He improved to 3-0 on the season with the victory.
The Sharks remain at home and resume play in Sunshine State Conference action, hosting Rollins College at 6 pm on Friday, March 26th at the NSU Baseball Complex.
