FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Aug. 3, 2010) - Nova Southeastern University Athletic Director Michael Mominey announces the hiring of Zevon Stubblefield as Assistant Director of Athletics for Athletic Training. Stubblefield will be taking over for Larry Starr who announced his retirement after eight years of service with NSU.
"Zevon is a great addition to our administrative team," said Mominey. "He has contributed to the department and university in his capacity as a Certified Athletic Trainer for us the past four years and will now transition into an administrative role. We are extremely excited to add his expertise, knowledge and vision to our team."
During his time as assistant athletic trainer, Stubblefield coordinated Drug Education and Testing for all of NSU's student-athletes. He also served as the athletic trainer for NSU's men's soccer and rowing teams. In addition to his athletic training duties, Stubblefield has also served as an adjunct instructor for strength and conditioning at NSU over the last three years.
Stubblefield earned his Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training/Sports Medicine from the University of North Florida in Jacksonville. From there, he attended graduate school at Florida International University in Miami where he completed his Master's of Science Degree in the topic of exertional heat illnesses.
Stubblefield brings a multitude of experience to the athletic training staff. His career has seen him everywhere from the high school to professional level including USA Taekwondo, LLC, Jacksonville Jaguars, LLC, and Miami Dolphins, LLC.
Prior to joining NSU, Stubblefield was the Head Athletic Trainer at Everglades High School in Miramar, Fla.
"First and foremost, I'm most excited that we can continue with the great staff members that we have," said Stubblefield. "We have a great staff and the current additions will improve on the legacy that Larry Starr has left."
