FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. –
Currently sitting third in the Sunshine State Conference standings, the Nova Southeastern women’s soccer team (8-2-2, 2-1-2 SSC) will play a crucial SSC match against second place No. 13 Rollins (9-1-1, 4-1-0 SSC) at 6 p.m., Friday, Oct. 14, at the NSU Soccer Complex.

With three SSC games remaining on the schedule, the Sharks are still in contention to defend their 2010 SSC regular season championship. Receiving three points per conference win and one per tie, the Sharks have totaled eight points in conference play. They trail Rollins by four points and trail conference leader No. 5 Saint Leo (1-0-1, 4-0-1 SSC) by five points.

The Sharks handed Saint Leo its only non-win of the season, Oct. 4, in a 0-0 double overtime game at NSU. Currently unbeaten at home (3-0-2), the Sharks will play their first home match since tying Saint Leo ten days prior.

In its previous road match against Lynn, the Sharks won their first game of the season after trailing at halftime. The Sharks were down one, before receiving two goals from conference freshman of the year candidate Sierra Lelii (Seminole, Fla.). The second goal was her third game-winner of the season; she has totaled five goals and an assist for 11 points, the third highest total on the team.

The Sharks have been a strong first-half team this season, outscoring opponents 21 to seven. Prior to the match against Lynn the Sharks only trailed Barry at halftime, losing 3-0.

Rollins allowed its first goal this season and suffered its first loss in its previous match, losing to Saint Leo, 2-0. The goals end a 10-game streak without allowing a goal by the Tars. Michelle Dillingham (9-1-1) allowed the two goals and made three saves in her 90 minutes in goal for Rollins.

Entering this week, Dillingham has allowed the least goals per game in the SSC and third least in the NCAA, at 0.180 per game. She has made 32 saves, with a saves percentage of .941 and played all 997:01 minutes in goal for Rollins.

Michelle Fuerst (4-2-2) (Jr., Armonk N.Y.) has been strong in goal for the Sharks of late also, allowing one goal in three games. She has shutout three opponents this season, collected 24 saves and played 739:33 minutes in goal for the Sharks.

On offense both teams feature two of the highest goal scores in the SSC in NSU’s Malin Broberg (So. Stockholm, Sweden) and Rollins’ Ali Schrader. At the start of the week, Broberg was fifth in the conference in total points with 18, on seven goals and four assists. Schrader has scored five goals and tallied three assists for 13 points, 12th best in the SSC.

The Sharks are 2-7-3 all-time against Rollins, tying the then No. 4 Tars, 2-2 (2OT) in 2010. In the game returners Alexandra Siciliano (So., New Hyde Park, N.Y.) scored a goal, Broberg recorded an assist, and goalkeeper Chrissy Hy (Sr., Weston, Fla.) made a career high 10 saves for the Sharks.

Returners for the Tars with a goal in the matchup include Brenna McKee and Charlotte Murrell. Goalkeeper Dillingham made two saves during her 90 minutes in goal.
