FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern women’s volleyball team (3-12, 1-5 SSC) will host Sunshine State Conference rival Florida Tech (4-11, 1-5 SSC) Tuesday night and Seton Hill (Penn.) Thursday evening at the NSU Arena. Both matches will begin at 7 p.m.
The Sharks will be looking to snap a three-match losing streak when the Panthers come to town Tuesday. NSU dropped conference matches to Rollins and Florida Southern over the weekend.
Anabely Escarpita (Sr., Boca Raton, Fla.) and
Danielle Graham (Jr., Cincinnati, Ohio) pace the Sharks with 2.68 and 2.41 kills per set, respectively. NSU has shared the offensive attack though, as six other Sharks are currently averaging at least one kill per set.
Kristina Eric (So., Sokolac, Bosnia) is leading NSU with a 4.64 assist per set average, while Jordan Pappas (Jr., Naperville, Ill.) is contributing 3.77 each set.
Paige Boivin (Jr., Plainfield, Ill.) is the team leader in digs per set, averaging 5.06.
The Panthers make the trip to Fort Lauderdale carrying an equivalent 1-5 conference mark as the Sharks following losses to Florida Southern and Rollins last week.
A trio of attackers lead Florida Tech as Caitlyn Ballweber (2.94), Janice Valies (2.40) and Kaitlin Brennan (2.18) all average over two kills per set. The Panthers rely on Alexis Mastela as their premier setter as she is currently averaging 9.31 per set.
The Griffins, a member of the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, make the journey to Florida on a four-match win streak. Seton Hill will visit Northwood Tuesday before heading to the Don Taft University Center for a Thursday showdown.
Three Griffins have split the offensive duties this season with Corrine Gahagan leading the way with a 2.52 kills per set average while, Rebecca Robinson (2.50) and Ashley Steinbach (2.37) are right behind her. Gahagan is also pacing the Griffins with a 1.24 blocks per set average as she has recorded 88 total blocks this season.
