WINTER PARK, Fla. –
The Nova Southeastern University men’s soccer team (6-4-0, 2-2-0 SSC) took a tough road loss Wednesday, falling to the Rollins Tars (4-2-2, 0-2-1 SSC), 3-0.

Rainy weather created rough conditions for both teams in the first half, with both team’s falling victim to several slip ups on the soaked field. Despite the conditions, the first half displayed an evenly matched contest. Although Rollins had seven corner- kick opportunities to the Sharks’ three, NSU was the slightly more offensively active team. NSU outshot the home team, 5-4, and forced Rollins to make four saves to keep the match scoreless.

Tyree Clarke (So., Birmingham, England) and Matthew Ilter (Jr., Lake Mary, Fla.) were on-point with their scoring chances, each going 2-for-2 with shots-on-goal. Andrea Giombetti (So., Rome Italy) had two first-half saves, one of which was a diving highlight save on a one-on-one play.

The home team put the match out of reach at the start of the second half, as they scored three goals in the first ten minutes of the period. The Tars struck first in the 49th minute, as Rollins’ Brett Durrance scored his first goal of the year on a cross into the back post.

Rollins piled on the pressure by scoring again just five minutes later. Evan Greenbaum scored off of a free kick deep into Sharks’ territory. Philip Schad of Rollins would catch the Sharks off guard and drive the final score in just one minute and 20 seconds later. The three goals came on the Tars’ first three shots of the second half.

By the end of the second half, the Sharks took five shots, with one of them coming on-goal.

The Sharks will stay on the road for their next match, a conference showdown against Saint Leo Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
