BOX SCORE

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.
– The Nova Southeastern University baseball team (4-1) picked up its fourth win of the season over the Florida Memorial Lions (2-7-1) Wednesday at the NSU Baseball Complex, outscoring them, 7-1 with a few homeruns.

Areo Regoli
(Sr., Homestead, Fla.) had a season best performance behind the dish going 3-for-4 with two solo homeruns. Vinnie Contaldi (Jr., Jupiter, Fla.) (2-0) gained his second win on the mound, facing four in the fifth giving up one hit and striking out one.

The Lions lit the board first in the top of the first with a bomb over the left field wall.  This proved to be the last run the lions would score.

NSU responded back in the bottom of the first with a stand up triple by Carlos Asuaje (So., Weston, Fla.) who scored the first run of the inning off a sacrifice fly RBI from Brett Clements (Jr., Riverview, Fla.). Regoli marked up the second and last run of the inning off a solo bomb to left center.

The Sharks stretched their lead by three in the bottom of the second adding one run off a RBI double by Asuaje, which brought Scott Woodrey (Sr., Lighthouse Point, Fla.) who also hit a two bagger earlier in the inning.

The Sharks brought out the big sticks in the bottom of the third, rocking two over the wall.  Regoli added his second  solo long ball of the game followed by Daniel Petitbon (Sr., Fort Lauderdale, Fla.), who also had a solo jack to center field, extending the lead, 5-1.

Both teams were scoreless through the fourth until the Sharks notched another run off a RBI double to right field by Alex Marrero (Jr., Miami, Fla.).

The Sharks struck again in the bottom of the sixth off a single through the right side by Clements, which brought Asuaje around the bases to add a six-run margin for NSU.

Another Sharks notable was Mauricio Rodriguez (Sr., Miami, Fla.), who started on the mound and completed four innings, facing 16 batters, giving up six hits and striking out four.

The Sharks are back on the diamond in a regional match up Friday, Feb 17, when they clash with Valdosta State on the road in a three game series.
