LIVE STATS

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern softball team (8-8) will be back on the field Tuesday afternoon for a doubleheader against the St. Thomas Bobcats (1-3). First pitch of game one is slated for 2 p.m. at the St. Thomas Softball Complex.

The Sharks completed a five-game homestand over the weekend, winning three games to improve to .500 this season. NSU swept Northwood on Thursday night with Sara DeMuth (Sr., Plant CIty, Fla.) and Barbara Pflug (Fr., Winter Haven, Fla.) picking up victories in the circle.

Senior Katie Kelton (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) is one of two Sharks batting over .400 this season. Kelton, the starting centerfield for NSU in all 16 games this season, is batting .409 with a team-high 18 hits to go with five stolen bases. Jaimee Vega (Jr., Loxahatchee, Fla.) is pacing the Sharks with a .455 batting average in 11 games.

DeMuth has been a strikeout machine for the Sharks this season, sitting down 94 batters in 13 appearances. The senior is averaging 1.4 strikeouts per inning, while holding a 2.77 ERA, throwing nine completes.

The Bobcats have had a light schedule in the early stages of 2012, playing only four games with one victory. St. Thomas opened the season with back-to-back losses to Saint Leo before splitting a doubleheader with Palm Beach Atlantic Feb. 4.

As a team, the Bobcats have struggled to find their offensive prowess, batting .145 as a team. Mellisa King holds a .333 average in six plate appearances, while Linett Perez is hitting at a .500 clip, in only two at bats.

Tuesday's doubleheader represents the first two of eight games the Sharks will play this week. NSU will head to Georgia this weekend to participate in the Columbus State Tournament that kicks off Friday.
