GAME ONE RECAP
Sara DeMuth (Sr., Plant City, Fla.) pitched six solid innings, striking out six and only giving up two runs, but the Sharks’ offense left eight runners stranded on base and Rollins took the opening game Saturday, 2-1.
Similar to Friday night’s contest, Rollins began the game with a run in the bottom of the first two innings to take a 2-0 lead. The Sharks put a pair of runners on base in both the second and fourth innings, but second base would be as far as they would get before Rollins secured three outs in each inning.
The Sharks’ bats finally produced a run a in the top of the fifth inning to cut the deficit in half, 2-1.
Jaimee Vega (Jr., Loxahatchee, Fla.) reached on an infield single and was then moved up to second on a ground out.
Katie Kelton (Sr., Pembroke Pines, Fla.) then stepped up to the plate and sent a hard shot down the left field line to bring home Vega.
After Sharks were able to get out of the bottom half of the fifth, they threatened to tie the game in the top of the sixth.
Chelsea Emery (Jr., Eustis, Fla.) led off the inning with her fifth double of season and then advanced to third on
Melanie Spicola’s (Fr., Umatilla, Fla.) single.
The Tars switched pitchers after the two hits and Hope Bitzer the replacement was able to three outs without either Sharks crossing home plate. Rollins would get the first three Shark batters in the seventh and secure its second win of the series, 2-1.
Vega was the lone Sharks with multiple hits, as she went 2-for-3 at the plate, scoring the only NSU run.

The Sharks took the lead in the third inning and remained tied until the sixth, but Rollins posted a pair of runs in the bottom half of inning six to ensure a 3-1 victory, completing the series sweep of NSU.
Rollins did their best to score once again in the first inning as they had in the previous two, but DeMuth sat down Bitzer, stranding Aimee Halpin at third.
It would be the Sharks that would hit the scoreboard first, tallying a run in the third to give NSU its first lead in the series.
Lorena Spaulding (Fr., Pembroke Pines, Fla.) would be credited with an RBI, singling through the left side to score DeMuth.
The Tars responded in the bottom of the fourth inning with one run to even the score, 1-1. Monica Meadows, who led off the inning with a single, was driven home by Lawna Hunter who grounded out to first on the play.
