Softball Heads to Palm Beach Atlantic for Doubleheader

The first pitch is set for 5 p.m.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern softball team (2-0) hits the road Tuesday, Feb, 5 to take on the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish (0-0) in a doubleheader. The first pitch is slated for 5 p.m.

The Sharks are looking to build on its sweep against St. Thomas on Saturday, Feb. 2. NSU knocked off the Bobcats 7-4 in the first game and 8-1 in the second. Chelsea Emery (Sr., Eustis, Fla.) led the way for the Sharks with four hits and four RBI. Great pitching from Jennie Von Doellen (Jr., Hudson Bay, Canada) and Laura Saladrigas (Sr., Hollywood, Fla.) made it very difficult for the bats of St. Thomas to get anything going, allowing just one earned run in two games.

This will be the first set of regional games this season for the Sharks, leading into a weekend chalked full of regional contests. Regional games early in the season are important, as they have a great impact on the Sharks’ chances of making the NCAA South Regional Tournament at year’s end.

NSU comes into this doubleheader taking seven out of last eight against the Sailfish, including three-of-four last season. Overall the Sharks post a 37-10 record over PBA, the third most wins against a single team in program history

The bats came alive for the Sharks when they traveled to PBA last season, hitting six homeruns over the course of a doubleheader, including two from Gina Bondarenko (Jr., Pembroke Pines, Fla.).

This will be the first series of the season for the Sailfish after finishing last season with a 30-21 record. PBA missed the postseason for the first time in five years and are looking to get back to that mark.

The first pitch is slated for 5 p.m. Tuesday, and fans can follow the game via live audio HERE and live stats HERE.
