FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.
– The Nova Southeastern softball team (13-19, 2-11 SSC) fell to the Saint Leo Lions (24-13, 4-3 SSC), 6-2, on Friday at the AD Griffin Sports Complex.

A four-run fourth inning for the Lions was the difference in the game Friday night.

Jennie Von Doellen (Jr., Hudson Bay, Canada) (11-13) pitched well despite the loss, striking out four batters and allowing just one earned run.

Lorena Spaulding (So., Pembroke Pines, Fla.) had a strong day at the plate, going 3-for-4 and crossing home for both of NSU’s runs. Chrissy Tabulov (Fr., Palm Harbor, Fla.) recorded both RBI for the Sharks.

After a Saint Leo run in the top of the first, NSU was able to tie it up in the next half-inning. Tabulov crushed an RBI double into left-center field that rolled all the way to the fence, allowing Spaulding to score easily from third. This was Tabulov's first double in her college career.

The Lions regained the lead by scoring another run in the second, before the Sharks were able to tie the game back up in their half of third. This time it was a Tabulov suicide squeeze, and Spaulding beat out the throw home by the Saint Leo pitcher, evening up the score at 2-2.

The Lions' big fourth inning was led by pinch-hitter Kylee Hardesty, who had a bases-clearing two-run double into left-center.

The Sharks were outhit on the night, 7-5, while each team recorded three errors.

The Sharks will look to bounce back tomorrow, as they complete its series against the Lions with a doubleheader, beginning at 1 p.m.
