Softball to Take on Webber International

The Sharks will look to continue its recent success against the Warriors.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern softball team (13-21, 2-13 SSC) will take on the Webber International Warriors (13-9) in a doubleheader, Wednesday, March 27, at the AD Griffin Sports Complex, beginning at 5 p.m.

This will be NSU’s first non-conference series in over a month, when they swept Mercyhurst on Feb. 26. The Sharks have had their most success against non-conference opponents, going 11-8 in non-SSC games.

The Sharks are most recently coming off a weekend series against the Saint Leo Lions, where NSU was swept in three games.

Webber International, a NAIA school out of the Sun Conference, will be playing its fourth and final SSC team of the season. The Warriors were swept in its two-game series against Florida Tech, before dropping a game against Saint Leo, 4-1. Most recently Webber International swept Eckerd, beating the Tritons 12-4 and 11-3 last week.

NSU had success against the only other NAIA team they have played this year, sweeping St. Thomas in the first series of the season, 7-4 and 8-1.

The Warriors have historically been a tough opponent for the Sharks, beating NSU 12 out of the 15 meetings between the teams. However, NSU most recently got the best of Webber International, sweeping the Warriors last season. The Sharks outscored Webber International 15-0 in NSU’s first series of the 2012 season.
