Softball Travels to Florida Southern for a Conference Series

The Sharks will look to add on to its seven-game win streak this weekend.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern softball team (20-21, 5-13 SSC) will take on the Florida Southern Mocs (13-25, 4-11) in a weekend series, beginning Friday, April 12, at 7 p.m. and concluding with doubleheader Saturday, starting at 1 p.m.

The Sharks enter the weekend on their hottest stretch of the season, winning the last seven games dating back to March 27. In their most recent series against Lynn, NSU swept the Fighting Knights in a three-game series, outscoring their opponent, 18-8.

During the streak, Erika Garcia (Jr., Pembroke Pines, Fla.) has produced on both offense and in the circle for the Sharks. In the seven games, Garcia has gone 10-for-22 with nine RBI to go along with six doubles. In the circle, Garcia was 4-0 with a 0.56 ERA and allowed only two earned runs.

The Mocs come into Friday hitting a bit of a rough patch, winning just one of their last 12 games and most recently taking one of two against Palm Beach Atlantic on Wednesday.

Dayna Hunn has been the strong bat for Florida Southern. Hunn currently leads the team in five major statistical category, including hits (37), RBI (19) and doubles (10).

This will be the second time these teams will face this season, the first being on day two of the Eckerd College Spring Invitational, where the Sharks won 4-1. Jennie Von Doellen (Jr., Hudson Bay, Canada) was able to strike out nine Mocs’ batters on the day.
