FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern softball team (17-21, 2-13 SSC) will face the Lynn Fighting Knights (18-18, 4-8 SSC) in weekend series, starting Friday, April 5, beginning at 6 p.m. The teams will conclude the series on Saturday with a doubleheader with the first pitch slated for 1 p.m., at the AD Griffin Sports Complex. The series serves as the Plantation Ford/Weston Nissan Volvo Series of the Week.
NSU enters Friday’s game on a four-game winning streak, its second longest streak of the season. The Sharks swept both Webber International and Albany State last week.
Erika Garcia (Jr., Pembroke Pines, Fla.) led the way for the NSU, pitching two complete game shutouts and recording seven RBI in the four games.
The Fighting Knights enter Wednesday winning two of its last six games, most recently winning one out of three against the Eckerd Tritons. The Knights have a doubleheader against Palm Beach Atlantic on Wednesday, prior to its series with NSU.
Kaci Vassalo has been the dangerous bat for the Knights this season, recording a .356 batting average and 24 RBI. As a team, Lynn has hit an impressive .302, second in the conference behind Rollins.
Despite falling twice to Lynn earlier this season, the Sharks have historically gotten the best of the Fighting Knights, holding a 34-23 record over its SSC rivals.
