Box Score JUPITER, Fla. – The No. 11 Nova Southeastern baseball team (23-7) avenged their Friday night loss to the Sailfish of Palm Beach Atlantic (13-15-1), by beating the home team, 20-5, Saturday afternoon. The teams are currently in the top of the second inning of the second game of the doubleheader, with the Sharks leading 4-0, which rain postponed to tomorrow.
Kavan Thompson (So., Melbourne, Fla.) had a career game, going 3-for-4, with five RBI and scored three times.
Geoff Jimenez (Sr., Pembroke Pines, Fla.) finished the game with a season-high four RBI in the 20-5 rout. Jimenez went 1-for-5 at the plate, was walked twice and scored twice.
Andres Visbal (Fr., Miami) (1-for-4) and
Alexander Fernandez (2-for-3) each had a pair of RBI in the win.
Julian Loret de Mola (Jr., Miami) (W, 6-1) picked up the win, allowing five runs, three earned, in six innings of work.
The Sharks surpassed yesterday's scoring mark of three in just the first inning of game one, bringing four runs across to jump ahead of the Sailfish early. After both Jimenez and
Alvin Swoope (Fr., Port St. Lucie, Fla.) (1-for-4) were walked to start off the first, Visbal brought in the first run of the game, smacking a single through the left side, scoring the speedy Jimenez from second. Later in the inning, with the bases loaded, Fernandez broke the game open, batting in two runners on a single past the first baseman's outstretched glove.
Andrew Liberty (Fr., Boca Raton, Fla.) (2-for-4) brought in the final run of the inning on a one bagger to right.
The 'Fish countered with a run in the first and second stanzas to cut the once healthy 4-0 lead in half.
The Sharks got a run back in the fourth on a Jimenez ground out to short, scoring Thompson easily from third. Earlier in the inning, after Thompson led off the frame on a base knock, and was then able to advance to third on an errant pickoff attempt by the pitcher that rolled to the fence.
PBA would not let the game get away from them, putting up another two-spot in the home half of the fourth, making the score 5-4.
The Sharks would finally put the game out of reach in the visitors fifth, breaking out for six runs, and giving themselves an 11-4 lead. NSU picked up another three in the sixth and four in the eighth, after the Sailfish pitching staff had some command issues, allowing two runners to score on bases-loaded walks.
The Sharks scored their final two runs in the ninth to put the score line at 20-5.

PBA's left-handed pitcher Phil DiLandro (L, 3-2) took the loss after pitching 4.1 innings. Eleven runs were scored off DiLandro, but only four were earned.
The Sharks jumped out to a quick, 4-0, lead on the home side through two innings, scoring all four in the second. Play was suspended with the bases loaded and two outs for NSU, with Alex Fernandez due up in the top of the second, of the seven-inning game.
A time and location to resume game two will be decided tomorrow morning.
