The Sharks Set to Play Makeup Dates Against Palm Beach Atlantic

The Sharks took two of three against PBA earlier in the season.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern baseball team (25-16) is set to host the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish, Sunday at 7 p.m., then will conclude their series with the Sailfish on Tuesday, April 29 at 6 p.m.

The Sharks enter Sunday picking a much needed win against the St. Thomas Bobcats this past Tuesday. NSU ran away with the win in a 13-3 defeat of their cross-town rivals. Alexander Fernandez (Jr., Davie, Fla.) was just a single short of the cycle in a four RBI performance. Andres Visbal (Fr., Miami) also swung the lumber well, going 2-for-3, with four runs batted in.

Prior to their win over St. Thomas, the Sharks hit their biggest slump of the season, dropping nine straight, all against nationally-ranked opponents. NSU dropped three against No. 19 Florida Southern, No. 5 Lynn and No. 1 Tampa. Against the Tampa Spartans, the Sharks held their own, having a lead in all three games. However, late game heroics from the Spartans powered the home team past NSU.

The Sharks look to add a couple more wins against PBA, a team that they had success against again already this season.

These teams met up for a three-game series earlier in the year, at the Roger Dean Complex in Jupiter, Fla. The Sharks took two of three from PBA, dropping the Friday night game, 4-3, in 13 innings before winning the final two contests by a combined 35-5 score. Dillon Frye (Jr., Raleigh, N.C.) and Mitchel Buerosse (Lighthouse Point, Fla.) combined for a perfect game in the final game of the series. Frye started the series finale Saturday afternoon for the scheduled doubleheader, but rain suspended play to Sunday afternoon. Buerosse picked up where Frye left off, pitching six perfect innings en route to the win.

The Sailfish (15-24-1) have had their share of struggles this season, but have played better as of late. PBA has won six of their last nine contests, including taking two of three against the Barry Buccaneers. This past weekend, PBA was swept by the Eckerd Tritons in a three-game series in St. Petersburg, Fla.
