BALTIMORE, Md. – Former Nova Southeastern University Shark, Miles Mikolas, will make his first Major League start for the Texas Rangers Wednesday against the Baltimore Orioles.
This is Mikolas' second stint with the Rangers this season, as he spent May 14-17 with the big league club but did not pitch. Mikolas is being called up from the Rangers' Triple-A affiliate, Round Rock Express, where he started his last six games, posting a record of 3-1 with a 3.58 ERA. In his six starts, Mikolas recorded 29 strikeouts while only walking three batters.
Future Hall of Fame candidate and Texas Rangers pitching coach, Greg Maddux, said to MLB.com that Mikolas has, "adjusted to the job description pretty quickly." Maddux is looking forward to seeing Mikolas pitch saying, "I'm curious to see him throw. He has a heavy fastball, and I remember him having a pretty good two-seamer from the limited look we had at him."
First pitch is set for 7:05 PM ET at Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore, Maryland. The game will be televised on the MLBTV app and MASN Sports.
