Red Sox Promote Asuaje to Advanced-A Salem

Asuaje promoted from Greenville Drive.

GREEVILLE, S.C. – Former Nova Southeastern University baseball player Carlos Asuaje has been promoted by the Boston Red Sox to Advanced-A Salem, as announced over the weekend.

Asuaje's promotion follows a historic run for the Low-A Greenville Drive. Just halfway through the year, Asuaje accumulated 24 doubles, 11 home runs and 10 triples, becoming the first player in team history to reach double figures in all three categories in one season.

On average, Asuaje batted .306 in Greenville and slugged .542. His triples total led the South Atlantic League, while his mark of 73 RBI ranked second. Asuaje earned valuable defensive experience with the Drive, making appearances at second base, third base, shortstop and left field.

Asuaje was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 11th round of the 2013 MLB Draft. Asuaje will now look to earn another promotion to the Red Sox' Double-A affiliate, the Portland Sea Dogs.
