FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Former Nova Southeastern University softball player Erika Garcia has been selected to the Puerto Rican National Team roster for the Internal Softball Federation XIV World Championship games, taking place August 15-24.
Garcia made the roster after collecting three postseason awards for NSU in 2014, including All-SSC First Team utility player, Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year and being named to the Daktronics All-South Region First Team.
NSU softball head coach Lesa Bonee stated, "What a wonderful opportunity and experience! She is such a competitor. I know she will give it everything she's got! She will represent our program and university well. I am extremely proud of her!"
In her senior season, Garcia finished in the top 15 in the region in hitting with a .378 batting average and had a slugging percentage of .635. She also finished tied for fourth in the region with 16 doubles. In the circle, Garcia finished seventh in the region tossing an impressive 2.11 ERA. Overall, she led the Sharks in 12 offensive categories and five pitching categories.
