FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern University swimming and diving teams will head north on I-95 to take on Florida Tech in Melbourne, Florida this Saturday.
The Sharks, currently featuring the highest rankings in program history (women – second in NCAA Division II, men – third in NCAA DII), will look to gain momentum heading into next month's conference championships with a win in their last regular season meet.
NSU's men are led by
Marco Aldabe (So., Alicante, Spain),
Anton Lobanov (Fr., Novosibirisk, Russia) and
Thiago Sickert (So., Vila Velha, Brazil) who each feature one or more individual times in the top five in NCAA DII. The women are led by
Bryndis Hansen (So., Akureyi, Iceland) who owns four times in the top five in NCAA DII. Hansen and Lobanov have the fastest time in DII in the 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard breaststroke, respectively.
The women's team has been nothing but perfect in deal meets this season, posting an undefeated record of 7-0. The women currently have five relay teams in the top five in DII: the 200-yard freestyle relay, 400-yard freestyle relay, 800-yard freestyle relay, 200-yard medley relay and 400-yard medley relay. The men feature two relay teams in the top five in DII, the 400-yard freestyle relay and the 400-yard medley relay.
Florida Tech currently ranks 15th in DII on the men's side and 35th on the women's side. Their men are coming off of a loss against Saint Leo, while their women posted a win over Lynn in their last meet.
The meet is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. at the Panthers Aquatic Center in Melbourne, Florida.
