Rollins comes into the match with a 1-10 overall record and a 0-3 mark in the SSC. After winning their first match to open the 2015 season, the Tars have struggled the entire season having lost 10 straight. The team ranks at the bottom of the SSC in opponent hitting percentage allowing the opposition a .232 season percentage. They will be led by Bri Civiero who leads Rollins averaging 2.98 k/set.
On Saturday, the Sharks will face SSC provisional member Embry Riddle. The Eagles participated in the NSU Sharks Invitational where they started the season 4-0 and since have lost only two matches. After opening the 2015 season with an eight-match win streak, ERAU has lost two out of their last three to No. 9 Florida Southern and No. 4 Tampa. They will be led by Evelina Abdurakhmanova who is averaging a whopping 4.70 kills per set and hitting .258 on the season.
Although the Sharks have struggled over the past two matches, the team is still off to their best start in school history at 10-3. After back-to-back losses to ninth-ranked FSC and No. 17 Palm Beach Atlantic, NSU is looking to get back on track in their Friday matchup against Rollins.
In the last three matches, all six freshmen have seen time on the court. Both
Denvyr Tyler-Palmer (Fr., Jacksonville, Fla.) and
Megan Burns (Fr., Sylvania, Ohio) have both earned starting roles in the rotation, while the remaining four continue to make significant contributions.
Relying on experience and leadership, the Sharks will still rely on the seasoned veterans
Dana Holger (Sr., Lino Lakes, Fla.) and
Katie Pyles (Jr., Denver, Colo.). Holger leads NSU averaging 3.14 kills per set, while Pyles continues to drive the offense and averages just under nine assists per set.
Both matches will be streamed live with commentary. In addition, live stats of the matches will also be available. Visit
