FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern University's men's and women's swimming teams will host Indian River State College on Friday, followed by a trip to Winter Park, Fla. on Saturday morning to take on the Tars of Rollins College.
The NSU men will turn to 2015 National Champions
Thiago Sickert and
Anton Lobanov to set the pace this weekend, along with key returner
Marco Aldabe and the highly touted transfer
Victor Tarin. Sickert currently holds five top-five times in NCAA Division II in the 50-, 100-, and 200-yard freestyle, as well as the 100- and 200-yard butterfly. Of those events, Sickert holds the top time in the 50-free, 100-free and 100-fly. Lobanov holds the top time in NCAA DII in the 200-yard breaststroke and the second-fastest time in the 100-yard breaststroke.
On the women's side, the team looks to extend its dual-meet winning streak, but will face what is likely to be their toughest test of their dual-meet season in IRSC on Friday. The Pioneers were the only team to truly challenge NSU's women last year, coming with two points of edging the Sharks (
103-101). The Sharks will look to
Courtney DeVeny,
Malin Westman and
Emma Wahlstrom for big performances on Friday afternoon, as well as Saturday in Winter Park.
Friday's dual with IRSC is set to begin at 2 p.m. at the NSU Aquatic Center and it can be viewed right
here.
