No. 8 NSU To Host Albany State

NSU looks to get back on track, welcoming Albany State.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Looking to get back to its winning ways, Nova Southeastern University's baseball team (9-3) will host Albany State University (1-13) this weekend, beginning with a doubleheader on Friday, starting at 3 p.m.

The Sharks are looking to get back on track after suffering three midweek losses this past two weeks. To do so, NSU will send Roberto Baroniel (Sr., Miami, Fla.), Alex Mateo (Jr., Miami, Fla.) and Ryan Castellanos (Jr., Davie, Fla.) to the mound this weekend, beginning with Baroniel, who will start the 3 p.m. matchup on Friday afternoon.

Roche Woodard (Sr., Tampa, Fla.) has been a bright spot for the NSU offense of late, posting a .555 average over his last two games with 5 hits. Justin Garcia (Jr., Hialeah, Fla.) has continued his stellar start, driving in at least one run in his last five games for a total of nine RBI over the five-game span.

The Sharks are an all-time 12-0 against the Golden Rams, including a three-game sweep in 2014, when NSU outscored Albany State by a score of 28-8 throughout the series. Andres Visbal (So., Miami, Fla.) went 6-9 in the series, all while smashing his first collegiate home run.

It's been a bumpy ride in 2015 for an Albany State team that went 31-18 last year, posting a perfect 20-0 record within the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schedule. The Golden Rams feature four 2015 Preseason SIAC All-Conference Baseball Team selections in Ryan Latner, Reise McDaniel, Allen Hardy and John Paul Bernard.

Be sure to tune in to all three games, following the links on the schedule page.
