Box Score FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The No. 6 Nova Southeastern University Sharks (19-4; 3-0) won the series finale against the visiting Adelphi University Panthers (1-2) on a hot Sunday afternoon, scoring 19 runs on 20 hits to win the series.
Ryan Castellanos (Jr., Davie, Fla.) picked up his sixth win of the year, tossing seven innings, while allowed two runs.
It was a tight game through the first three innings, as the Sharks held a 3-2 heading into the fourth inning. Castellanos held the Adelphi offense scoreless in the top half of the fourth inning, leading the way for the NSU bats to break the game open, scoring six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Mario Urdaneta (Sr., Ocala, Fla.) hit a three-run triple down the right field line to make the score 6-2.
Alexander Fernandez (Sr., Davie, Fla.) then singled, driving in Urdaneta.
Andres Visbal (So., Miami, Fla.) followed with a RBI single, scoring Fernandez. The Sharks capped the six run inning with a single from
Michael Hernandez (So., Pembroke Pines, Fla.), driving in
Justin Garcia (Jr., Hialeah, Fla.).
NSU scored five more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, beginning with a
Roche Woodard (Sr., Tampa, Fla.) double, scoring
Kavan Thompson (Jr., Merritt Island, Fla.). Urdaneta followed with a double off of the centerfield fence, driving in Woodard and
Dylan Woods (So., New Symrna Beach, Fla.). Fernandez then pushed to score to 14-2 with a two-run blast over the left field fence, his fifth of the year.
Four more runs in the bottom of the seventh inning made the score 18-2, highlighted by
Ryan Dodge's (Fr., Pembroke Pines, Fla.) first career home run, hit well over the centerfield fence. Urdaneta drove in another run and
Teft Hill (R-So., Fort Myers, Fla.) had himself a RBI ground out. The Sharks added one more run in the eighth inning, thanks to a home run from
Antonio Rodriguez (Jr., Coral Gables, Fla.), his first of the year.
Josh Glick (Jr., Boca Raton, Fla.) sealed the deal for the Sharks, tossing two innings, while throwing 12 pitches, all of them for strikes.
