FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- The Nova Southeastern University volleyball team (10-2, 3-1 SSC) returns home on Tuesday night to face Sunshine State Conference provisional member in Palm Beach Atlantic at 7 p.m. at the NSU arena at the Don Taft University Center.
NSU heads into the match after splitting a pair of SSC road matches over the weekend. The Sharks started with a five-set 3-2 win over Florida Tech (7-3, 2-1 SSC) to remain unbeaten in conference play this season. However, the team ran into the ninth-ranked Florida Southern Mocs the following day and fell short in three straight sets.
"I was proud of the way our team played on Friday against FIT, but we didn't play our best volleyball against Florida Southern," head coach Jenn King said. "However, we had a great practice earlier today and the team will be ready to face Palm Beach Atlantic tomorrow night."
Palm Beach Atlantic will come into Tuesday night's matchup with a 9-2 overall record having already picked up four consecutive wins over SSC opponents. However, since they are a provisional member in 2015, that record does not count toward overall league standings. Last season, PBA advanced to the NCAA South Region tournament and finished as the regional runner-up after falling to eventual national champions Tampa in the regional championship.
Comparing the two teams, the Sailfish come into the match hitting .202 as a team, while NSU brings a .225 team percentage. Both teams have a common loss against USC Aiken.
Senior Dana Holger (Lino Lakes, Minn.) continues to anchor the Sharks' offensive attack averaging 3.11 kills/set. However, five freshman made contributions in NSU's previous two matches. Both Megan Burns (Fr., Slyvania, Ohio) and Denvry Tyler-Palmer (Fr., Jacksonville, Fla.) have earned their spots in the starting rotation since the beginning, while Jenn Rosado (Fr., Miami, Fla.), Maddie Uilk (Fr., Longmont, Colo.) and Kim Blasko (Fr., Ocala, Fla.) each earned their way into the previous weekend's lineup.
Multimedia services will be available for the match. Starting at 7 p.m., both live video streaming and live stats will be available for the duration of the match by visiting www.NSUSharks.com.
