USF INVITATIONAL RESULTS
COASTAL CAROLINA INVITATIONAL RESULTS
TAMPA, Fla. - Nova Southeastern University track and field completed its first two 2016 spring regular season meets on Saturday, March 12.
The Sharks competed in the Coastal Carolina Invitational 10k men's and women's races Friday, March 11 at the Doug Shaw Stadium in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
The men had four entries for the 10k competition, all of which finished in the top six out of 27 long distance runners.
Christian Oppel (Lautertal, Germany) and
Maximilian Sperl (Fr., Regensburg, Germany) concluded the race in the third and fourth spot with times of 32:27.37 and 32:27.84, respectively. Following the two German natives was
Thomas Ingalls (Jr., St. George, Utah) in fifth place with a time of 32:30.29.
Long Tran (Sr., Saigon, Vietnam) followed closely behind and finished sixth with a time of 32:38.32.
As for the women 10k race, they only entered the top two distance runners
Anabel Knoll (Fr., Ingolstadt, Germany) and
Imke Oelerich (Sr., Braunschweig, Germany). Knoll won the event by claiming first of 14 with a time of 38:04.26. Oelerich did her best to stay as close to the leader and claimed the fifth spot of the event with a time of 41:16.18.
The biggest competition for the Sharks opening weekend was the USF Invitational at the USF Track and Field Stadium in Tampa, Fla.; this meet had a total of 39 events that were scheduled throughout Friday morning and afternoon, but concluded on Saturday evening, March 12.
NSU track and field team collected a grand total of 10 first place, six second place, and four third place finishes in the collegiate competition.
Shakira Bartley (Jr., West Palm Beach, Fla.) had the longest women's triple jump with a 11.94 meter mark.
Ciona Williams (Sr. Stockton, Calif.) claimed the best collegiate time in the women's 100-meter dash with a time of 12:03.
Eric Moate (So., Lakeland, Fla.) replicated Williams success in the men's 100-meter dash with a time of 10.58.
Quannisha Allen (Sr., St. Augustine, Fla.) was the fastest collegiate woman in the 400-meter dash with an impressive time of 1:00.17.
Ismael Voltaire (R-Jr., Kissimmee, Fla.) continued the Sharks outstanding performance in the men's 400-meter dash with a quick finish time of 48.95.
The Sharks collective work was the highlight of the weekend as they crowned themselves kings of all four relay races in Tampa, Fla.
Sherrelle Jordan (Jr. Chandler, Ariz.),
Ciona Williams,
Jazmine Elleston (So., Piscataway, N.J.), and
Shakira Bartley flashed to the first spot in the women's 4x100 meter relay with a time of 47:06. AJ Franklin (Sr., Pensacola, Fla.),
Eric Moate,
Rohan Mullings (Jr., Royal Palm Beach, Fla.), and
Christopher Horn (Fr., Leo, Ind.) also top the first place in the men's 4x100 meter event with a time of 42:04.
Barley teamed up with
Shannon Rolle (Jr.. Miami, Fla.),
Quannisha Allen and
Sherrelle Jordan and took the 4x400 meter relay with a mark of 3:53.90. The men replicated the outstanding finish in the 4x400 meter competition with
Akeim David (R-Fr., Bridgestown, Barbados),
Tyler Johnson (Fr., Miami, Fla.),
Dwayne Edwards (Jr., Jacksonville, Fla.), and
Ismael Voltaire with a time of 3:16.01.
The Sharks will be official hosts of the first ever NSU Shark Invitational on Wednesday, March 16 in Miramar, Fla.
