FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Nova Southeastern University baseball team (12-10, 3-3 SSC) will travel to the west coast of Florida to take on the No. 1 University of Tampa Spartans (20-1, 6-0 SSC) in a three-game series beginning on Friday at 6:00 p.m. and concluding on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
The Sharks will look to match last year's performance against the eventual national champions, as NSU swept Tampa at the NSU Baseball Complex, highlighted by two walk-offs from
Michael Hernandez.
Greg Brown's ball club regained its focus this week, as the Sharks took care of business on Tuesday night against No. 6 Southern New Hampshire, defeating the Penmen 10-5.
Hernandez,
Brandon Gomez and
Daniel Zardon will look to play big roles this weekend, as the three have combined to drive in 40-percent of the Sharks' runs in 2016, while also combining to hit 18 of NSU's 28 home runs. On the mound, the plan is to go with
Alex Mateo on Friday night,
Matt Hardy in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader and the series finale's starter has yet to be determined.
