ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – No. 7 Nova Southeastern University women's tennis team claimed its first conference victory versus Eckerd on the Dick Bullard Courts in St. Petersburg, Florida Saturday, March 26.
The Sharks add another win to their overall record, making them 9-1. They also start off with the right foot in the Sunshine State Conference competition. Eckerd Tritons were unable to match the Sharks frenzy, losing to the Sharks in all three doubles matches and all three singles games.
No. 7 NSU tennis initiated with all doubles victories. The No. 1 squad
Petra Jurova (Sr., Bratislava, Slovakia) and
Sabrina Kierberg (Sr., Munich, Germany) finished 8-0. The No. 2 duo
Klaudia Boczova (Jr., Bratislava, Slovakia) and
Carlee Rizzolo (Sr., Livingston, N.J.) won by a score of 8-0. The No. 3 combination
Nastassia Rubel (Jr., Minsk, Belarus) and
Linda Kornienko (Sr., Fort Myers, Fla.) concluded 8-0.
Moving on to singles the Sharks continued to dominate by winning all six matches. Boczovia defeated Eckerd's No. 1 single by a mark of 6-0, 6-0. Jurova was also victorious in the No. 2 singles winning 6-0, 6-0. Rubel did the same in the No. 3 individuals match with a 6-0, 6-0 score. Irina Constantinide (Sr., Galati, Romania) finished 6-0, 6-0. Junior sensation
Alex Kaeser (Jr., Woodstock, Ga.) claimed her first victory of the season in the No. 6 singles 6-0, 6-0.
The Sharks come back home and have a few days to prepare to host NCAA Division II ranked No. 2 Barry Bucs. The match will take place on Wednesday, March 30 at the NSU Tennis Complex in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
