FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2 CCA) has announced that Nova Southeastern University's Kristyna Hranacova has been named the 2025-26 D2 CCA National Woman's Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the organization announced on Wednesday morning.

Excelling academically, athletically and in leadership roles are a stable of Division II athletics. Kristyna Hranacova has been the walking definition of that.

Hranacova, a junior management major from Czechia, authored one of the most dominant seasons in NCAA Division II tennis history. She helped lead the Sharks to their second NCAA Division II National Championship in three seasons, won the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA)'s doubles cup with her partner Katja Markus, was named the ITA's Player of the Year and ended the season ranked No.1 by the ITA in both singles and doubles, the first Division II student-athlete to do so in the same season as winning a national championship since 2000.

"Kristyna Hranacova's achievements are a powerful reflection of what is possible when exceptional talent is matched by discipline, determination and purpose," NSU President Harry K. Moon, M.D. said. "To earn national recognition for excellence both in competition and in the classroom is a remarkable accomplishment. We are extremely proud of Kristyna, not only for all she has achieved, but for the way she represents Nova Southeastern University and our entire Shark family."

This past season, she posted a 27-7 record in singles play and a 30-4 doubles record alongside Markus, was named All-SSC First Team in both singles and doubles, was named the NSU Female Golden Shark at the 2026 Sharky's and picked up ITA All-American recognition in both disciplines as well.

"Kristyna is a Shark in every sense of the word. She has represented Nova Southeastern with pride, determination and incredible commitment to those around her," NSU Interim Athletic Director Ryan Romero said. "What she has accomplished is remarkable, but we are equally proud of the person she has become and the way she has represented NSU every step of the way. Kristyna has made a lasting impact on our program, and we could not be prouder to see her receive this recognition."

Academically, Hranacova was named the Sunshine State Conference (SSC) Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year, earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District and CSC First Team Academic All-America honors, is a member of Nova Southeastern's prestigious Chi Sigma Alpha Honor Society, and was named to the Fall 2025 Dean's List.

"[Kristyna] has had one of the most decorated years a D2 tennis player has ever had. To accomplish all of this while earning such a high GPA says everything you need to know about Tina," Nova Southeastern head tennis coach Doug Neagle said. "She's a great person, teammate, and I couldn't be happier for her. A well deserved honor for Tina!"

She has attained a 3.98 GPA as a marketing major while enrolled at NSU Florida.

She joins Minnesota State-Moorhead's Jack Strand as the male representative for the award.

Hranacova begins her title defense with a long list of awards and accolades on Oct. 1 at the PBA Invitational at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center in West Palm Beach, Fla.
