FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Nova Southeastern University women's tennis team (10-1, 2-0 SSC) hosted with victory No. 29 Florida Tech (13-5, 2-2 SSC) at the NSU Tennis Courts in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Friday, April 1.
The Sharks took the reins of the match from the start by defeating the Panthers in two of the three doubles matches. The No. 1 squad
Klaudia Boczova (Jr., Bratislava, Slovakia) and
Sabrina Kierberg (Sr., Munich, Germany) enabled the Sharks first point by a score of 8-2.
Petra Jurova (Sr., Bratislava, Slovakia) and
Nastassia Rubel (Jr., Minsk, Belarus) owned the No. 3 doubles match with a mark of 8-3.
In the singles battles the Sharks made sure to secure the game early by winning the top three singles matches. Boczova prevailed in the No. 1 singles match, winning 6-0, 6-1. Followed immediately after was Kierberg with a victory of 6-4, 6-0 in the No. 2 singles. Jurova also obtained her tenth consecutive victory in singles with a 6-1, 6-0 final score in the No. 3 singles. European sensation Rubel took the last bite for the Sharks in the No. 4 singles by defeating the Panthers 6-2, 6-4.
The overall team score indicated a Sharks victory of 6-3, extending their current winning streak to ten. The Sharks will be back in action on Sunday, April 3 starting at 10 a.m. at home when the Tampa Spartans pay a conference visit at the NSU Tennis Courts. Prior to the start of competition on Sunday morning the Sharks will honor and thank six graduating student-athletes during a pre-game Senior Day ceremony.
