No. 20 NSU Gears Up for 14th-Ranked ERAU

Sharks to face first ranked opponent of 2016 Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Momentum is currently riding high on the Nova Southeastern sideline. Winners of four straight matches, the 20th-ranked Sharks will take their shot at five in a row when they welcome No. 14 Embry-Riddle to the NSU Soccer Complex Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET.

The Sharks reeled off three victories in last week's busy stretch of three games in five days, including a pair of Sunshine State Conference wins and a dominant 4-0 shutout over Johnson & Wales (Fla.). In the latter contest, Nova Southeastern completely overwhelmed the Wildcats, holding its NAIA opponent without a single shot in either half. In addition, the Sharks' offense had its way, transforming a 1-0 advantage at the intermission into a landslide down the stretch. Freshmen Jessica Bendetti, Victoria Hollamon and Myriah Troutman each tallied their first career goals in the effort, while fellow classmate Alexys Nowak registered her second goal of the season in the 55th minute.

Wednesday expects to be arguably the Sharks' toughest matchup to date, however. Outside of last Saturday's 2-1 loss to Barry, their first of the season, the Eagles have failed to allow a goal against either of their first four opponents in 2016. Dating back to September of last year, head coach Samantha Bohon's club has recorded shutouts in 10 of its previous 13 matches.

The Eagles enter Wednesday fresh off the aforementioned defeat, but are only one week removed from an impressive 1-0 double overtime win against a Rollins team that is currently ranked sixth in this week's NSCAA poll. Keeper Fanny Kristiansson kept Embry-Riddle in the contest with a season-high six saves before Sophie Brundin converted the game-winner off a corner kick in the 107th minute.

NSU blanked ERAU 2-0 on the road in 2015's lone meeting with the Eagles.
