Box Score LAKELAND, Fla. – Competing in their second road match of a Sunshine State Conference matchup weekend, the Nova Southeastern volleyball team fell in straight sets to the host Florida Southern Moccasins.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
SET 1 | Florida Southern was strong to start, grabbing a 5-0 lead from the gates and never looking back. At 21-17 in FSC's favor, the Sharks were able to come within one, 21-20, with three-consecutive kill by
Jane Early,
Denvyr Tyler-Palmer and
Samantha Blasko. After a timeout called by the Moccasins, the home team was able to pull away for a 25-22 first set win.
SET 2 | Similar to the first set, the Mocs were able to grab an early lead and towards the end of the set, at 17-13 in FSC's favor, the Sharks were able to cut the deficit to one, 17-16, and forced the home team to call for a timeout. Once again, the Mocs returned to the court with the momentum on their side and finished the set on top. 25-20.
SET 3 | In the closest set of the day, the Sharks were the ones to hold the early lead, 5-3. The two teams exchanged multiple-point runs to force four lead change until at 18-15 with NSU in the lead, Florida Southern used their first timeout. A 4-1 run by FSC knotted the match, 19-19, and were able to steal the lead, 22-21, before NSU used a timeout of their own. The Sharks were able to put up two more points with kills by
Kim Blasko, but it was not enough as Florida Southern took the set, 25-23.
INSIDE THE STATS:
- Tyler-Palmer once again led the Sharks offensively, tallying 13 kills, while Jane Early added eight and Kim Blasko tacked on six.
- Tyler-Palmer also added 10 digs, completing the double-double.
- Samantha Blasko recorded 27 assists and Megan Burns picked up a game-high 18 digs.
- NSU dished out seven service aces, three coming from Samantha Blasko and two from Burns.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Tyler-Palmer's double-double was her eighth of the season.
- Early's eight kills served as not only a season-high but a career-high as a Shark.
- Samantha Blasko's 27 assist performance was her eight double-digit assist game in a row. The junior has tallied 11 total this season.
